May Brings Crawfish Bashes, Wine Festivals and More to the Gulf

From crawfish festivals to Mother’s Day celebrations and Fun Run opportunities with your favorite canine companion, there are many fun and exciting events taking place throughout the Alabama Gulf Coast region in May. If you are looking for a little fun in the sun or if you simply want to enjoy some great food, here are a few options for you to explore.

Orange Beach Waves of Wine Festival

The Orange Beach Waves of Wine Festival is one of the most popular events on the island. Showcasing over 120 wines, the festival provides ticketholders with the opportunity to samples a variety of wines while also taking a cruise around the bay. Local boats will be running throughout the entire day to provide tours, while several yachts will also be docked for viewing. The festival will also feature live music acts and food from distinguished local restaurants. Participating restaurants include Cosmos, Cobalt, Rum Sisters and Corkroom. In addition, for those who are not fans of wine, the festival will also feature craft beer.

The Orange Beach Wine Festival takes place on May 13th from noon until 4:00 pm at Caribe Resort in Orange Beach. The cost is $59 per person in advance or $69 at the gate, with participants receiving a custom wine glass and custom wine bag. All participants must be at least 21-years-old to enter.

The Hangout Music Festival

The three-day Hangout Music Festival features a number of artists representing a variety of music genres, including hip hop, rock, indie and electronic dance music. Some of the artists appearing at this year’s event include: Mumford and Sons, Chance the Rapper, Twenty One Pilots, Band of Horses, Shaggy and Foreign Air,

The Hangout Music Festival takes place May 19-21 from 11:00 am until midnight at Gulf Shores Public Beach located at 101 E. Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores. General admission tickets are $2819, while VIP passes are $1,099 and Super VIP passes are $1,599.

5th Annual Crawfish Bash

The family-friendly Crawfish Bash will be coming back to Bay Minette for the 5th year in a row. In addition to crawfish, the event offers sausage, hot dogs, corn, potatoes and other tasty food along with locally brewed beer from Fairhope Brewing and other non-alcoholic beverages. Kids activities will also be offered along with live music and other opportunities for fun.

The 5th Annual Crawfish Bash will take place on June 2 in Bay Minette at 5:00. Tickets are available through the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce for $20, fr which you can eat and drink all of the non-alcoholic beverages you like. Beer costs $5 per cup and kids 10 and under are admitted for free.
