Valentine’s Day – a day filled with surprises, grand gestures, chocolates, flowers, romantic movies, candlelit dinners and more, but also a day of numerous events in the Gulf Coast region. Whether you want to spend Saturday catching beads on the Mardi Gras parade routes with fellow Mobilians and Gulf Coast locals, or have a little less over the top night out and a romantic dinner or weekend getaway, there’s an option for everyone.
With Mardi Gras just around the corner – and with Valentine’s Day weekend being the last weekend before the big Fat Tuesday – there are plenty of Mardi Gras parades and activities for you to explore. These include the Foley Mardi Gras parade in downtown Foley,the Mystics of Pleasure parade in Orange Beach, the Krewe of Mullet Mates, Mystic Revelers and the Shadow Barons parades all in Baldwin County and several others on Route A in Mobile. Route A parades will include the Floral Parade, the Knights of Mobile, the Mobile Mystical Ladies and the Order of Angels.
If you’re interested in something a little more romantic than being surrounded by the crowd of locals shouting for throws, LuLu’s will be hosting its 7th Annual Tropical Re-Union. This free Valentine’s Day wedding vow renewal ceremony is put on by the popular Gulf Coast restaurant starting at 2:00 pm. The event includes everything from a complimentary wedding cake, wedding vow certificate, flowers, champagne toast and music for all the dancing your heart desires. In order to participate in the wedding vow renewal ceremony, just register on the website. Phoenix All Suites is also offering a Vow Renewal Special Rate Package for $125 per night for couples who want to spend a couple nights away after the ceremony. For an additional $80, you can add the Romantic Gift Package. This package includes an assorted floral arrangement, champagne and a $20 LuLu’s Gift Card. Only catch – just stay a minimum of two nights anywhere from February 12-14th to receive the special price.
The Coast Restaurant at The Beach Club in Gulf Shores is also offering a romantic night out on Valentine’s Day from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The restaurant will serve a special 3-course Valentine’s Dinner prepared by award-winning chef, Brody Olive. The cost is $75 per couple. If breakfast is more your style, the restaurant will also be offering a Valentine Pancake Breakfast from 7:00 to 11:00 am. The breakfast comes with pancakes, fresh fruit, bacon, coffee and juice for only $7 per person. Proceeds from the breakfast will go towards supporting Relay for Life. Reservations for both events are recommended.
In addition to the events above, The Hangout in Gulf Shores will be hosting live music from 6:00 to 10:00 pm on Valentine’s night or you can head to the South Baldwin Community Theatre to see the play “The Sunshine Boys” starting at 7:30 pm. With all of these events happening, all you have to do is decide which is right for you and the one you love. In the end, what could be better than spending Valentine’s Day in coastal Alabama?
