The Alabama Gulf Coast is an area that is simply bustling with activity. If you are looking for something fun to do while also supporting local charities and causes, there are plenty of options available to you over the next month. Here is a look at just a few of the activities taking place in the area to support local causes.
Bald Eagle Bash
The 7th annual fundraiser for the Weeks Bay Foundation, which is the only nationally accredited land trust in coastal Alabama, the Bald Eagle Bash will serve as a fundraiser as well as a fun event to enjoy for the day. During the event, you can enjoy “a taste of Weeks Bay,” which features fresh Gulf shrimp that has been prepared by top restaurants in the area as well as free beverages. Live music will be provided by The Mulligan Brothers. Free parking is also available, while BRATS shuttles will provide transportation to the event.
The Bald Eagle Bash will take place on April 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the waterfront Tonsmeire Weeks Bay Resource Center at the Fish River Bridge, which is located at 11401 U.S. 98 in Fairhope. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Page & Palette in Fairhope, the Reserve, the Foundation office or directly from Foundation board members. Proceeds from the event go toward the Foundation’s mission to protect coastal wetlands.
The Salvation Army Causeway Classic 2016
The Salvation Army Causeway Classic is a fishing tournament designed to raise funds and awareness for the Salvation Army. Open to participants of all ages with three divisions, the event will feature live music, displays, food, door prizes and a 2:00 pm weigh-in at Fowl River Marina.
The Salvation Army Causeway Classic will take place on April 30th from 5:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Fowl River Marina, which is located at 11801 Dauphin Island Parkway in Theodore. Participation registrations must be submitted by April 29th in order to participate.
Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation’s Cocktails with Critters
The Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation will host its 11th annual fundraiser, Cocktails with Critters on May 5th. The fun evening overlooking the Mobile Bay will feature a silent auction, tasty hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and entertainment. Among the entertainers will be artist Stig Marcussen, who will be at the event to add color to his limited edition prints that have been specially designed for the event. Local singer and songwriter Ryan Balthrop and Friends will also provide musical entertainment. Items to be included in the silent auction will range from original artwork to guided fishing trips in the Gulf.
The Dauphin Island Sea Lap Foundation’s Cocktails with Critters event will take place on May 5 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at The Bluegill Restaurant on the Causeway, which is located at 3775 Battleship Parkway in Spanish Fort. Tickets are $50 in advance or $55 at the door.
