Springtime on the Alabama Gulf Coast

The Alabama Gulf Coast has plenty of fun to enjoy this spring. Whether you are looking for something to put you in the Easter spirit or simply an activity that allows you to enjoy the lovely spring air, here are a few events for you to look forward to in March.

Cottontail Express

The Cottontail Express will be taking a trip through the Wales West RV Resort & Light Railway from March 5th through the 26th on Saturdays from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. At this special event, you can ride an authentic steam train to the Bunny Hutch before taking pictures with the Easter Bunny and enjoying an Easter Egg Hunt. You will receive a tote for your egg hunt and will have the opportunity to create your own Easter themed craft. Free attractions will include a children’s bounce house, a miniature train ride, a bunny hay ride and refreshments. A petting zoo, a pony ride and a peep canon can also be enjoyed for a small fee, while the gift ship, concession stand and Dame Ann Café offer opportunities for shopping for gifts, snacks or even lunch.

The Wales West RV Resort & Light Railway is located at 13670 Smiley Street in Silverhill. The cost is $15 per person, plus tax. Children 2 and under are admitted for free. Call 1-800-569-5337 for more information.

Bragg-Mitchell Mansion’s Annual Spring Tea

The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion will be hosting its annual Spring Tea on March 11 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Built in 1855, the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion offers an idyllic setting among majestic Oaks and azalea-lined drive. Offering the true Southern experience, the mansion features floor-length windows, a spacious veranda, period antiques and two-story columns. Participants in the Annual Spring Tea can tour the mansion while also enjoying delicious treats and tea in one of the area’s most beautiful antebellum homes.

The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion is located at 1906 Springhill Avenue in Mobile. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. The annual tea serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds going toward the continued restoration and operation of the mansion. Call 251-471-6364 for more information.

Easter at The Wharf

The annual Easter Egg Hunt at The Wharf will take place on March 26th, while Easter Bunny photos will take place on March 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27. The Easter Egg Hunt will boast more than 5,000 eggs scattered throughout the Marina Lawn. Other activities will include giant coloring sheets, face painting and bouncy houses. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 11:30 am with opportunities for photos with the Easter Bunny taking place until 4:00 pm.

The Wharf is located at 23101 Canal Road in Orange Beach. Photos will be taken on the designated days at Palm Plaza from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Easter Bunny Kids Brunch

Villaggio Grille at The Wharf will be hosting an Easter Bunny Kids Brunch on March 26th from 9:30 to 11:30 am. The event offers the opportunity to enjoy a tasty meal while also spending time with the Easter Bunny prior to the Easter Egg Hunt at the Wharf.

Villaggio Grille at The Wharf is located at 4790 Wharf Parkway, Suite 108B in Orange Beach. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for kids. Reservations are required.
